Penang Young Digital Talent Award Ceremony and Web Design Competition Finale
Big Domain Sdn Bhd has never stopped the initiative to support the nation’s digital transformation process by co-organizing Penang Young Digital Talent’s Award Ceremony and Web Design Competition Finale to discover and develop more digital youths. Both events came to an end when an award ceremony was successfully held at The Ship Campus on January 15 to announce the winners.
A total of 820 youths were trained across various digital fields, such as e-commerce, digital marketing, web design and becoming a Key Opinion Leader (KOL). The Web Design Competition “Empowering Young Digital Talent” is open to all full-time Penang college and university students below 35 years old and a total cash prize of RM4,800 to three (3) winners teams will be given in the Web Design Competition Finale.
It is co-organized by Big Domain Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), as well as a host of other partners to make this event a success. As the sponsor of the event, Big Domain Sdn Bhd aims to open up opportunities for young talents to utilize their skill and enhance their potential in website design by sponsoring domain name and hosting.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was present, expressed his appreciation to all the agencies that make this event a success. “Thanks to PYDC for their continuous effort to groom our future talents, we hope to develop talents who have the capabilities to embrace the digitalization era and promote our digitalization efforts together with other relevant agencies.” he said.
PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling also agreed that digitalisation is the way forward now. “This event is a collaborative effort that we hope will further empower them through digital skills. This is in line with the Penang Young Digital Talent programme goal which is to develop 1000 talents in 2 years starting from 2021.” PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said.

We are very excited to work with PYDC to launch more programmes to help the youths in the near future. During the event, team Overcook emerged as the champions, followed by Metaverse as the first runners-up and Befour as the second runners-up in Web Design Competition Finale.
The winners took home RM2,000 while the first and second runners up received RM1,600 and RM1,200 respectively.
For the Digital Talent Award, the winners were Oh Zi Jian, Tay Wan Nee, Poh Choo Han, Ooi Si Sheng and Chuah Kai Win. The event was also joined by awi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye, Bagan Dalam assemblyman M. Satees, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi, PYDC’s board of directors, PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd chief executive and managing director Datuk Seri Dr Michael Tio.
